January 24 – International Day of Endangered Lawyers
International Day of Endangered Lawyers in 2025 is dedicated to the repressed lawyers living in Belarus. As Justice Uphold, we call for our colleagues in Belarus to be able to practice their profession freely as soon as possible. In line with this call, as Justice Uphold Law and Human Rights Platform volunteers, we are exposing the ongoing oppression of lawyers in Turkey.

Lawyer Ömer Turanlı
Lawyer Ömer Turanlı devoted his life to the law and worked with all his strength for the rule of law and the manifestation of justice in real terms. Until the day he lost his life in exile, he stood by those who were wronged and those who could not be heard. We remember Attorney Ömer Turanlı with mercy.
Lawyer Dilek Ekmekçi
Lawyer Dilek Ekmekçi is in prison today because she pursued only truth and justice without turning a blind eye to injustice and injustice. She gave voice to those who could not be heard and tried to fulfill her profession as a lawyer to the fullest. We call for Lawyer Dilek Ekmekçi to regain her freedom as soon as possible and for her rights to be restored to her immediately.
Lawyer Turan Canpolat
Lawyer Turan Canpolat practiced law with his unwavering belief in the rule of law. He has been imprisoned in Elazığ Penal Institution for 9 years. His freedom, which he deserves even according to the laws within the current legal system, continues to be usurped. We call once again for lawyer Turan Canpolat to regain his freedom, which is his most natural right, as soon as possible.
Lawyer Tahir Elçi
Diyarbakır Bar Association President Attorney Tahir Elçi defended the rule of law at the cost of his life in the name of a just world and living in peace. Tahir Elçi lost his life after a treacherous attack, but he showed those left behind how necessary law and justice are for social peace. We remember lawyer Tahir Elçi with mercy.
Lawyer Selçuk Kozağaçlı
As a defender of law and justice, lawyer Selçuk Kozağaçlı has shown with his stance that everyone will need law and justice one day, and that a just society can only be established with a just judiciary. He was unlawfully arrested and his freedom was usurped. We call for the release of lawyer Selçuk Kozağaçlı as soon as possible and for justice to be served in this way.
